This can be abused, for example by poking in with some units while the army gathers at another position just outside of the range. This can cause panic for the terran so he sends all units to the wrong place and is not in position when the main army enters the sensor range. This doesn't mean that sensor towers are bad, just that you shouldn't fully trust in what they seem to show.
