Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is the sixth installment in Ubisoft's epic war between the Assassin's Guild and the Templar Order. Set in the Caribbean sea circa 1700 AD, the tale follows the life of Edward Kenway, Caribbean "Privateer" extraordinaire and grandfather to AC3's Connor.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is a historical action-adventure open world stealth video game. It is the sixth overall installment in the main Assassin's Creed series, and the fourth numbered title.

The Templars (under the guise of Abstergo Entertainment), are trying to figure out what happened to Desmond Miles at the conclusion of Assassin's Creed III. The player is a new Abstergo Entertainment employee working at their headquarters in Montreal, Canada. That person has been charged with doing research on the life of a 1700's pirate named Edward Kenway, grandfather to Assassins Creed 3's protagonist Connor, through use of the Animus. Abstergo publicly aims to use this research in order to develop a new video game, but the player thinks they may have ulterior motives...
