I recently formatted my computer and Steam Cloud didn't save everything I did. How do I get my levels back? Thanks.

Reset to default

The obvious answer would be to play them again but I assume that's not what you want.

Portal's saves are stored locally, in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\portal 2\portal2\SAVE . If you find a completed save file, you can copy it into that directory and load it. This will unlock everything.

  • Assuming he formatted the partition his Steam folders were on, he can't access his saves. There are programs for recovering files after formatting, but I believe that's beyond the scope of Arqade and the results may vary.

  • @Sebie No. Portal 2 saves are only stored locally and reformatting the hard drive erases everything. Unless OP had the foresight to backup his saves of course but then he wouldn't be asking this question.

  • @Taacoo ,@Chippies ,@Studoku . I understand that when you format a hard drive it wipes everything, but my experience with Windows restore has been positive, actually. I formatted it to the core basics and I forgot to copy something and I could still restore back, to before I formatted it.
