In Witcher 3, sometimes in caves, on top of tiles there appears a hand icon, which can only be seen when using Witcher Sense. It's an open hand with the palm facing downwards.

Anyone know what it means? I've seen these a few times and have tried doing everything I can to interact with them, but nothing works. I hope they aren't important.

  • The first time I've seen that kind of icon was during the "Wandering in the Dark" quest. The hand icon always appeared on object that had to be activated by interacting with something else; in that particular case, a portal opened after Geralt inspected some glyphs. The icon appeared where the portal opened. Not sure if that's the answer, but you might find it helpful. – Nolonar May 27 '15 at 18:55
  • Thanks, that seems to be my experience so far. I've seen it in places where I could eventually activate a portal. But I've also seen it above certain chests, etc. – Gary May 27 '15 at 18:58
  • This icon seems to also appear over barrels/chests which will cause nearby guards to aggro if items are looted from them. – Unknown Zombie May 28 '15 at 14:45

Sounds like the same hand that appears over bee hives, I think it may indicate indirect interaction.

With bee hives you have to use Igni to kill the bees and knock the hive off so you can then interact and get the sweet sweet honeycomb held within.

A way to kill bees? This is excellent news. I feel some retribution coming on. – David Yell Jun 1 '15 at 15:12
