By default, creepers kill nearby armor stands that do not possess the Invulnerable tag. The gamerule mobGreifing prevents creepers from destroying nearby blocks, but does not prevent damage.

Since I am summoning a creeper via a command, so I can change the NBT data of the creeper itself. I cannot however, change the NBT data of the armor stands.

One solution I have tried is applying a weakness effect on the creepers. This has given me this command:

/summon Creeper ~ ~ ~ {ActiveEffects:[{Id:18,Amplifier:0,Duration:1000000}]}

which summons a creeper with a weakness effect. This stops damage from applying most mobs, but still kills armor stands.

What can I do to make sure the creeper does not remove the armor stand?

  • @SirBenet In my context, armor stands are summoned by the player. – Julian Lachniet Mar 20 '17 at 20:32
  • Could you not change the NBT data after they're summoned by the player? – SirBenet Mar 20 '17 at 20:53
  • Theory: What would happen if they were on the same team? A clock adding them to the same team? Would they take friendly fire still? – Reflexive Mar 20 '17 at 21:00
  • @SirBenet That could probably work, but I'm not sure how that would be possible. – Julian Lachniet Mar 20 '17 at 21:32
