I've set up my Xbox One controller in the Steam Input options (big picture mode), entirely correctly as far as I can see:

controller settings

controller application options

The controller doesn't work at all in the first game I tried ("The Emperor's New Groove", predates XInput) when the controller support is functional when the game is launched outside of Steam.

Considering the high praise the Steam's controller remapping functionality gets, I expected full compatibility in all applications — have I misunderstood the concept entirely?

  • Are you sure this remapping feature is meant to work on third party controllers? The only button mapping feature I'm familiar with is for the Steam Controller itself - I didn't see any indication it was meant to work on other controllers too. (But I could easily be wrong here.) – Steve-O Apr 3 at 13:43
