I don’t know how and I’m trying to turn villagers into witches. I am running Minecraft 1.2, which is before the availability of the /summon command.

  • @pppery Does that work in Minecraft 1.2, did you check? The question is from 2016, Minecraft 1.2 came out in 2012. And I'm pretty sure I remember that lightnings usage used to be very limited in commands, because they're not regular entities. – Fabian Röling Oct 20 at 12:29
  • At least the old version of the wiki page says "When lightning occurs in the nether (by hacking or mods)", so I would assume that it was not possible with commands back then. But sadly that old version contained many errors, so I would not rely on this information. Even that sentence contains an error ("hacking" is not something someone usually does in Minecraft and it absolutely not required in this case) and the sentence goes on to document a bug as if it was a feature (wrong rendering order). – Fabian Röling Oct 20 at 12:41

Reason for voting to reopen: As I said, this question is about Minecraft 1.2, when the /summon command didn't even exist yet. So it's not helpful to direct people to a question where the only answers are using /summon. – Fabian Röling Oct 21 at 15:02
