I'm looking for a way to play PC games in VR which don't officially support VR headsets and tracked motion controllers. Maybe there is a feature for that somewhere in SteamVR or Steam app itself, or maybe a general third-party app which works with any DirectX game. Or maybe Windows 10 has a hidden feature for this an obscure corner of the gaming overlay.

I've found VorpX which is expensive and I don't know if it works well enough with Valve Index to buy it just yet, and Vireio the site for which is dead, the Github repo seems abandoned and it looks like it was mainly meant for Oculus headsets.

I don't see why this question should be closed, especially with the 'Game Design and Development' reason: it is (mostly) about game-specific hardware and software, and will likely become a common and popular problem. – Joachim Dec 27 '19 at 8:58
