What’s the use of gold? Seriously, come on. Gold is rarer than iron, yet the armor is almost as weak as the leather armor, which you can get from cows. The durability is terrible, and my tools break instantly. Iron is more common than gold, yet it has 15 armor bars (3rd most in the game), and the gold? Only 11. And the durability is so low! The iron tools have a durability of 251 hits! However, the golden tools only 33. Please, tell me, why did Notch make the golden tools/armor so weak?

P.S. I’m actually really happy that the iron armor is really strong because then I can make a full iron armor in no time, and the armor will be strong! Also, it’s pretty durable... 2x more durable than gold.

  • I feel like this question shouldn’t be closed. It’s about Minecraft and is not off topic. I talked about the durability and the weakness of the golden tools/armor, and asked them why Notch made it so weak for possible answers to my question.

Golden armor and tools are the easiest to enchant out of all the other armor and tools types. So gold has its perks, but I don’t understand why it’s so weak. Maybe Notch was trying to be realistic? In real life, gold armor would be much to heavy and soft to actually be used as armor.

    Yeah, that’s actually true. I mean, for new players, please don’t be mining hours for gold. It’s really not that useful and breaks really easily. It does have it’s ups though. One is going to the nether with golden armor (boots recommended to be changed if that’s the case!), piglins won’t attack. (I think ‘cause they think we are piglins too.), and another, like you said, easy to enchant.
