As the title said, I'm really curious why they called their accessories "PAK" instead of "PACK". I tried to do my own research but found nothing.

You can find more about each accessories here.

Welcome to Aquade, Burrish. I'm not sure this question is considered on-topic, because this isn't really about a technical issue with gaming accessories.

  • But I have been wondering that too. They call them that for the Nintendo DS too.

@Alex It sounds perfectly on-topic to me. Arqade allows more than just technical issues Commented Sep 27 at 19:47

  • It may be on-topic, but imo it's a poor question (hence my downvote). It's asking about the reasons for a marketing decision that was made over 20 years ago. It seems unlikely there will be any deeper reason than just typical marketing strategies (which have been similarly applied to hundreds of products). It's a common marketing technique to misspell a word in a product name, because it helps to grab attention.

It's not a term used for all accessories, just for cartridges. So it's not a misspelled "pack".

Also from Wikipedia:

Game Pak is the brand name for ROM cartridges designed by Nintendo for some of their earlier video game systems. The "Game Pak" moniker was officially used only in North America, Europe, Oceania, and South Korea.
