EarthBound is a Japanese RPG released in 1994 by HAL, Ape, and Nintendo for the SNES. It is known as Mother 2 in Japan (part of the Mother series) though each game is unrelated. The game stars Ness, a young psychic, who acquires the help of three friends in his journey collecting sounds from natural wonder/sanctuary locations in order to defeat the evil Giygas. It is known for its quirky style, cult following, and "rolling counter" hit points system.
