Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana (イリスのアトリエ エターナルマナ Irisu no Atorie Etānaru Mana) is a Role Playing Game developed by Gust for Playstation 2 originally released in Japan in 2004.

The Player assumes the role of Klein Kiesling, a young alchemist honing his skills as he travels the world with his Mana Partner Popo, the Wood Mana. After arriving in the city of Kavoc, Klein is met by Lita, a girl who only moments before outside the city aided Klein in a battle.

After Lita invites Klein to become a Galgazit the 2 begin to investigate how to reach Avenberry, where the Atelier of Iris Blanchimont is located. however as they begin their investigation they are beset by the Alkavana Knights however later it is revealed that Mull, an alchemist who counts smuggest their ranks but goes against the Teachings of Iris, is manipulating the group for his own benefits.

One of the main game play mechanics of Atelier Iris is Synthesis new items are made, there exists 2 forms in Atelier Iris

  • Shop Synthesis - which involves using collected items to make new items available in the shop (at limited quantities). Greater Quality Items leave to higher popularity in the ship resulting in new scenes which unlock new recipes. other recipes are discovered by substituting items in existsing recipes.

  • Mana Synthesis - Only usable by Klein, this allows the player to make Mana Items using selected beings known as Mana and energy known as Elements which can be extracted from the environment or from collected items. Element cost is dependent on the Mana with Mana only able to use a few Elements and most inflating the cost, using a Mana of the same element will net the player a 1:1 cost. Mana Synthesis can also be used in battle by Klein to create Mana Items as long as the player has ample stores of Elements

The player is also able to use Mana in the environment, some Mana are required to pass certain obstacles such as Uru's fireball or Diemia being used as a step. others provide benefits such as Aion's ability to heal party members and Eital being able to prevent random encounters.

The game was localized in North America in June, 2005 by Nipon Ichi Software America (NISA). In March 2006, the game was localized in Europe by Koei and in Australia by THQ.
