To give this question a test, I opened up a multiplayer session with a friend. We were using in-game chat, and approached what I can only imagine would be "earshot" of the Witch (basically as close as we could get without her tearing our faces off.) We then both proceeded to yell as loud as we could, for over a minute at differing volume levels, in an ...

Regarding formations: the best advice is to "corner up" which really means "limit the size of the angle that you must attend to." A wall at your back is a flat corner :) Again with formations: pick a portion of the available angle of attack and cover it. Leave the rest of the field of fire for your team to handle. Allow and expect your team to get your back ...

After testing this, the trick to throwing gas cans involves shoving the gas can as soon as you throw it: Step 1: Obtain a gas can. Step 2: Put your crosshairs at least 45° from the ground. I had better results the higher my crosshairs were angled. Step 3: Move forward, then throw it by pressing MOUSE1. Don't press E because you'll just drop it. Step 4: As ...

You can't cut the tongue with a melee weapon once you've been ensnared however you can cut the tongue while its coming at you. If you have a melee weapon, it is possible to cut the tongue just before it hits you. This tactic require timing and knowledge of the direction of the tongue. If you have a Chainsaw, timing and direction is usually not needed. If the ...

This run uses two exploits to make the playthrough easier: a well-known glitch called the "Jesus room" that exploits the infected's ability to find of your location, and medkit exploit that abuses The Director's knowledge of your physical condition. A brief summary of the Jesus room from GameFAQs: "The Jesus room" is the name commonly used for the room ...

The first rule about expert mode: more than anything else, avoid friendly fire AT ALL COSTS, especially if you're using a shotgun. In expert difficulty, each projectile can take 10hp away, and since a shotgun fires 8 (normal shotgun) to 10 (shotgun auto) buckshots, it can instantly incap one of your teammates. Sometimes, playing with a bot in your team ...

12

Play with a team - Bots won't help you here. You need a team of people that stick together. Some players prefer playing with 1 bot on their team to spot/take care of special infected, but personally I believe the downsides of a bot outweigh this upside, as a coordinated team should have little issue hearing, locating and dealing with special infected. Use ...

I can't give you a definite answer for comparisons between L4D1 and L4D2, but I have racked up hundreds of hours on both games and continue to play both daily. I'll give you my tips for each SI class, and perhaps it'll help you a bit. Hunter The obvious: 25 damage pounce is of course, wonderful. Some people are pretty good at bashing you out of the air, ...

The name that appears over your head and in the HUD to identify you (as the player) from the other players is the same as the name you select for your Steam profile. If you change that name, it will change the name that displays in-game. This is true for many Steam games, even those not by Valve. You can take a look at this question for instructions on how ...

The AI in L4D is pretty simple and can only manage a very limited set of situations (and not always the right way): save you from an infected that incaped you (which fails most of the time) pick up stuff (excluding any pipe-bomb/molotov/boomer can) - you can help by spamming the "Look!" verbal order while aiming at what you want them to pick up heal you ...

Situational Awareness The single most effective combo is good headphones and microphones for everyone. With a good set of headphones you'll hear the specials coming in, where your friends are in trouble, the direction of the horde, etc. There's nothing more satisfying than hearing the spit from afar and jumping up onto a bench or table before it even lands ...

First of all install steam, or the Half Life Dedicated Server (a.k.a. hldsupdatetool, see This site) wget http://www.steampowered.com/download/hldsupdatetool.bin Install it ./hldsupdatetool.bin after chmod +x if necessary. It will put steam in the current directory. Check the tool is at the last version with ./steam (multiple times if necessary, until it ...

On Xbox 360, you definitely do, yes. I can't see why the PC version would be different.

A friend and myself ran DC on expert (trying for the achievement) for months. Most of the time, we got a single bile jar towards the beginning of the first map, but aside from that, no, it's not guaranteed. There were several (and it was like 15-20% of the time) that NO bile jar spawned at all, making that gate run near impossible. Knowing it's importance, ...

You need to put all .cfg files into the \cfg folder in the main left4dead2 directory

Though some things are merely touched on, I expect that most players have a subconscious understanding of some of the points I will make. What you should then take away from the things which you may already know is a heightened sense of importance of how each of these things effect the success of your team. Also, though I do not talk about every special ...

It is now possible to play old mutations; when you select Mutation, the last option in the menu is "Change Mutation," and there's a pretty good list of Mutations you can play, in 1-, 4-, or 8-player games. Note that, because there are a couple of dozen available mutations (counting all modes), it can be hard to get a game going unless you're willing to wait ...

You could try this: Move the game folder to a different location. Click on Delete Local Content for the game in Steam if available. Initiate the installer. Once it begins downloading, pause and close Steam. Move the original game folder back into where Steam is downloading the new files. Run Steam and if it doesn't automatically do so, verify file integrity....

Those modded servers use SourceMod to create new game elements and modify existing elements. That type of menu is a simple VGUI element, not something created using the game's built-in chat system. VGUI elements such as that menu are created by writing C++ code to several user-created files (both the game itself and SourceMod are created mostly/completely ...

Team members have a soft outline around them which is more easily seen when looking at them through walls, you will just have to be more careful and look more closely. This adds to the realism I guess and makes the game that slight bit more difficult Note that the outline is not visible when playing on "realism" difficulty

So, it's actually a mod you can subscribe to in the Steam Workshop for Left 4 Dead 2. The mod is called VOX - Complete Vocalizer by c2. Use in moderation! It can add a lot of humor to the game, but it can mess with your team causing premature team killing... so, yeah :)

3

You can do it on any difficulty, whatever the support (PC/Xbox). Since it isn't especially an easy one, if you just want to get the achiev', you'll probably prefer to get it on easy. But it's also a great challenge to try it on expert.

3

You may need to rely on a mod to achieve this... Check out: Left 4 Downtown 2 https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=134032

I suggest hosting your own server (extremely simple and can be done directly in the game) for total control. Install Admin System mod from Steam Workshop (and Admin Menu if you want GUI). The commands are executed in the game chat. For example, !ban Bill permanently bans the player who is playing as Bill by adding his unique Steam profile ID to the blacklist....

I have a strategy to fight against witch. If I meet the her on my path and there's no other way, so here's what I'm doing to treat her.. Try to find a large open space area around her but if it couldn't make sure that there's no barricade or some stuffs like that which can detain your movement. Instruct the AI bots or your friend to cover you from behind ...

if you use Adrenalin shots and melee weapons you can easily run around him and slice him up or you can use pump shotgun that deals 1000 damage to the tank.

One approach to easily dispatch a witch that isn't mentioned in any of the existing answers involves frag rounds. Remember that they stun special infected, including witches. So, if you have frag rounds, and if there is enough room, deploy the frag rounds, instruct your team mates to equip them, then instruct all your team mates to fire at the witch from a ...

Do this On your Steam Library, right click on L4D2 and click on Properties Go to the Local Files Tab, and then click on Verify Integrity of the Game files Now you just wait for it and if something is wrong it should fix it and redownload the corrupted files.

There is a mod out there (don't have a link handy, but it's called 'bots can lead') that attempts to improve the AI survivors. They can sometimes take the lead, and seem to get stuck less. They also now wait if you use the command, and will move if you use the let's go command. I was experiencing a bug in which sometimes I would be incapped, and an AI ...

Roll your drivers back to your previous version and see if the problem still persists. If so, it might be a recent patch for L4D2 that made it incompatible with something in your system. If possible, you could check the Event Viewer to find out what happens. Go into Control Panel, and ensure "View by" is set to "Small icons" or "Large icons". "Category" won'...
