I had this same problem. What fixed it for me was switching to another controller.

Set your controller to enable pairing (For PS4 controllers, hold down the PS button and the Share button until the light on the rear of the controller). Click the Apple logo in the top left corner of your screen. Select System Preferences. Click Bluetooth. Click Connect.

Yes, N++ runs on Mac. Has done for a couple of years! Not sure of the specs but it is even in the process of being updated for Apple's new requirements. (you can use the localization beta branch if it doesn't work at the moment)
