Resource packs are used to change the textures, sounds, translations and more, without needing to modify the game's internal files. Formerly known as "texture packs". Should always be tagged with [minecraft-bedrock-edition], [minecraft-java-edition], or [minecraft-legacy-console]. Resource packs are .ZIP files or folders that are read by Minecraft to replace or add new:
- textures (including fonts)
- sounds (and music)
- texts (and entire languages)
- models (of blocks and items)
Resource packs can be enabled and disabled, including having multiple active at once, each only overwriting certain resources.
Not all resources can be overwritten with resource packs.
The mod OptiFine adds additional features to resource packs.
