I'd say that the most major difference is the addition of the Thaumcraft and Mystcraft mods in Technic. As others have said, Tekkit is for use in a multiplayer setting, while Technic is for SSP only. The major mods in both are IndustrialCraft2 (adds electricity and industrial machines), Equivalent Exchange 2 (adds in alchemy using the Philosopher's Stone, ...

The normal minecraft loader downloads what's called Vanilla Minecraft, what is developed and released by Mojang. Tekkit is a collection of mods which change and add features to Minecraft - using their loader is easier than using ModLoader and messing with your jar files. The launcher also loads different mods such as YogBox, Hack/Mine and Voltz. There are ...

In order to increase Oil Well generation, you need to got the config file, goto buildcraft, then goto main.cfg, open it using notepad or something. scroll down to where it says D:oilWellGenerationRate=1.0, then just change the number to a number < 100. You MUST include the .0.

Of course, mods like this would be near impossible to use without some sort of guide. For starters here is a Youtube channel that has some pretty good videos all about the mod. Technical Minecraft At Its Best W/ Odedex In Odedex's Technical Minecraft playlist he starts of with a brand new game using the mod. He touches everything in the mod in a fun to ...

No, there's no limit to how many items can be in a chunk, nor in a pipe. I've piped a rotary macerator at full speed into a cobblestone pipe, and it handles them fine. The limitations of pipes are designed entirely around transport speed, not contents capacity. Minecraft's limitations on items aren't designed into the game mechanics — rather, too many items ...

Both Technic Pack and Tekkit include ComputerCraft, which gives you access to Turtles, one of the most wonderful automation tools. A Turtle is a programmable block just like a computer, but it has an inventory and is capable of movement, digging (when upgraded to be a Mining Turtle), block placing, and sensing its environment and inspecting the contents of ...

That's about it: a mass fabricator. Anything less doesn't need all that power, since the draw is so low that it might as well be free. Even then, once you've made everything you want from UU matter, you'll still have more power lying around than you need to keep your godlike gear fully charged. Though, if you have the EU to power a small town, maybe you ...

Since you said you're the admin, and you don't mind using hacks, you could move the spawn point. In a similar vein, you could set the biome to be something different. For vanilla, the easiest way I know to accomplish these tasks is to use an editor such as MCEdit. Both tasks are relatively straight forward, however I don't know the steps required off hand....

That's an inactive rift from a (pocket dimension) dungeon from the Dimensional Doors mod by StevenRS11. If you place a Wooden Warp Door on the block just below it you'll make it permanent and be able to enter it. One-way exits of such pocket dimensions also look like this, but you would know if you created one. Make sure you have some way to come back in ...

The server will by default keep a certain number of chunks near the server spawn loaded at all times, regardless of people logged in or actual chunk loaders. To my knowledge there's no way to disable this at all in Minecraft 1.2.5.

Technically there are only two solar panels in Tekkit, and they're not interchangeable: there's the Industrial Craft2 solar panel and the Redpower solar panel. What you're probably mixing in with those are the various IC2 solar arrays, which combine several IC2 solar panels into one block for increased power output and smaller footprint. If you're powering ...

When I started the new tekkit I also ran into this problem. Some things that i started doing with it were: Using the minium stone to turn it into clay then from clay to clay blocks then from clay blocks to iron. The conversion rate is terrible and it's a bit time consuming but it really helps clean up your chests. You can turn it into glass. Glass is used ...

You can recycle it for scrap ---> scrap boxes -----> free items!

Electrolyzers, unlike other machines, need to be directly adjacent to a power source (MFE or MFSU). They can be against any side of said source I believe, but must share a side with it rather than be connected via wiring. The solution is to just place your electrolyzer next to your MFE, leaving the normal output face of your MFE open to run cabling to your ...

You can use MCEdit to load the map and delete the block, however all the non-vanilla blocks will be invisible, so you'll have to know where it is before loading MCEdit. But you can view the block ID so you can check it's the right block before deleting it.

Plop an energy link next to a wooden pipe, add power. Prepare for lag :D. A high powered energy link will blow your mind as to how fast it moves items. Great because it uses no stupid engines which are slow, explosive, and laggy.

3

Redstone engines certainly start slow but they increase significantly in speed the longer they are allowed to run. You can also use energy links to power steam engines and combustion engines - I did a quick test in creative, and even while still cooled down these will transfer a minimum of half a stack in one go. Warmed up they'll do a full stack at a time. ...

Remember that RedPower pneumatic tubes will only send items if the source is open, so you can save yourself from overflow with those. Otherwise, for the items with an EMC, condensers are great for collection. For the other items, you could use obsidian pipes leading up to some recyclers, and put the product of that into your mass fabricators (assuming you're ...

I believe it is part of how the Sphax PureBDcraft texture pack generates the textures. I think it throws in a different texture every so often to break up the monotony and add a little decoration. The same happens with the grass texture. A flower texture pops up here and there on the grass. I don't know what other block textures do that but I've noticed ...

This used to be the Metallurgy mod-pack originally (so may be of use to you if you are wanting to use it separately for this purpose) Taken from the big dig changelogs for v 1.3.2 Removed Metallurgy (taken over by CoFH Core) It was taken out and replaced instead by CoFH Core (part of Thermal Expansion), the makers of which can be found on this thread. ...

Since the server is hosted on a different computer, you cannot use localhost to connect to the server on your laptop from your new pc. localhost is only for server host on the same computer. To connect to your server host on the laptop from a different pc, you should first find out the local ip address of your laptop. You can check your local ip address ...

The best machine to use is the filler, as you just make the type of mode you want and give it materials - it will do the job.

2

The automatic building tools as part of the Buildcraft mod in Tekkit looks like they do what you want. Builders consume materials you put in them and create buildings based on a template or a blueprint you give to it. Templates only preserve block position in structures, so the builder will use any available materials to build your structure from a template....

The Distribution Transport Pipe will evenly distribute incoming items to all possible outputs. This will allow you to divide it into fractions of any number divisible by two or (I think) three.

While Tekkit is an SMP mod, Technic is SSP only. This means it cannot be played with others, but it allowed them to add quite a few mods which were not feasible in an SMP setting. I'd post a list of the mod differences, but the Technic site is blocked here, so I'll have to do so when I get home, unless someone feels like editing it in. The easiest way to ...

You need to put some bare wire on it in the same place you want to connect the jacketed wire. This is so it looks like it touches the block instead of floating
