There is a slight difference in hit boxes (official source), but apart from that there isn't supposed to be any difference between cars.
Some players report other differences though, that may show up when powersliding in a circle (for example).
Regarding how the difference affects the game on the pitch is tricky to say, but having a slightly lower or ...
Picture Evidence that the topper doesn't change the hitbox.
Equipped the tallest topper I have.
Flipped the car over. When the car is upside down, the top of the hitbox is resting against the field, and this shows that the hat is purely cosmetic.
This is from the Rocket League Wiki
Each player can gain points from various actions throughout the match. At the end of the match, the player on the winning team with the most points gets MVP (most valuable player) and is awarded an additional 100 points. If two players on the winning team have the same number of points when the match ends, MVP is ...
This answer is for PS4, but I expect it works similar on PC.
While in the main menu, there is an indicator in the lower left corner telling you which local players have connected already. It also tells you "Press options to join". After every local player has joined this way (pressing the options/start button), you can simply start an exhibition, seasons ...
There is no officially supported way to sell Rocket League in-game items. However, Rocket League does have an in-game trading market that allows you to trade items with other players, although not for real money.
Note that for most games, any transactions outside the official ingame trading market are not officially supported by the devs and you may even ...
Edit: This information was true at the time, but Rocket League has since been announced to arrive in physical form (see Powerlord's answer).
You cannot (as of yet).
According to the devs (source), Rocket League is download only.
In team sports, a shutout is a game in which one team prevents the other from scoring any points
Specific videos claiming a shutout in Rocket League Dropshot here and here.
The first video claims this is all that's needed for the achievement, however the second video description says it was not enough to gain the achievement.
According to the developer, the cars have slightly different hitboxes. Other than that, they have identical stats.

Even if you change the config files manually, it can be undone from inside the game.
I think that simply telling your son to either not use the words he sees (let's be honest: he'll get exposed to it sooner or later) are not nice words or just disabling chat inside the game and telling him to not change the settings explaining your worries should suffice.
This wheel was awarded at the end of Season 9 to those who earned the competitive Gold 1 tier rewards.
I don't know their specific name, but that's not going to help you if you were trying to obtain a set. As prizes to competitive events, these can't be traded.

EDIT: Without a proper picture, it will be very difficult to guess which award you are talking about. In any case, you can view all of these awards in game from the main menu under Extras -> Stats. Scroll through all of them until you find the symbol you are talking about.
The only thing that comes to mind is this symbol (top right, bottom of the stack):
Yes, it does work. Just tested it myself. However, your window to demolish opponents seems a bit smaller. I had to hit them in mid-flip just after going supersonic. Otherwise I slowed down too much after the flip was finished.
You are likely hitting up against the 10 hours/week drop limit. From the patch notes:
There is a maximum of ten hours of playtime per week that can earn items, so don’t bother trying to idle your way to a full inventory!
In doubles, I find a good tactic is to designate positions, switching up when necessary (communication is key here).
Midfielder should stay centered, keep a well-plenished boost, and keep watch for the pass on a clear shot. Keeping the ball in play and be able to speed back to defend if needed.
Striker should be chasing the ball, taking shots, ...
Each car has various paint jobs that are unlocked as you play the game. They will not show as "new" with the exclamation point until the appropriate car is selected. Select each car (equipping it), then move to the paint job tab to see the new paint jobs that are unlocked.

Four brand-new vehicles debuting in the Collector’s Edition:

I get the same feeling when playing Rocket League on PS4. It's because the input latency (time for your button presses to be reflected on screen) is generally much higher on console. This is because:
TVs generally have much higher latency than monitors, especially ones that have fancy effects like motion interpolation or noise reduction. Many TVs have a "...
Judging from my experience the best strategy, almost guarantied 100% first touch is to hold accelerate and boost before the match starts, then when you're all out of boost do a front flips, they give a bit of boost towards the direction you flip.
Using this strategy I'm almost certain to get first touch should I want it (sometimes I let them push the ball ...
Decals are car specific as sequoiad said.
In my experience I have received decals for DLC cars via the trade-in system, for example, I got the Royal decal for the Dominus. So if you do not have the DLC car for which the decal is for then you will not be able to use it, however you will still be able to trade it in.
The power in your hit comes from transferring your momentum to the ball. If your momentum is low, the hit will be less powerful. The part of your car that you hit the ball with can dull the effect of your momentum, but your momentum is still the deciding factor in how powerful your shot will be.
Dodges/flips seem very effective at making high-powered shots ...
Almost all of these systems used in game for ranking are based on an ELO formula (see elo rating system) - it comes from chess.
The basics of it are this: if you are seriously outmatched and lose, you lose 1 point, if you are seriously outmatched and win, you gain 32 points. If you are even and lose, you lose 16 points. If you are even and win you gain 16 ...
The drop chance for Black Market decals is the same across all crates.
Psyonix has not released any official rates so the exact drop rate is unknown. There has been some analysis of crate openings done and the speculation is that the BM chances are between 1-2%. The analyses below have determined a rate of 1.2% and 1.4% respectively so 1-2% is a fair ...
Disable desktop mode for the steam controller using the following steps:
Steam > View > Settings > Controller > Desktop Configuration > Browse Configs > Show Other Controller Types
Choose one of the disabled ones (PS4 or Xbox) and apply it.
This will disable the mouse/keyboard emulation of the steam controller which apparently confuses Rocket League.
No, they mean how many trails come out the back of the car.
For instance, notice that when the Gizmo boosts there's only one smoke trail behind it, but when the Merc boosts there's two (stacked vertically on top each other)
