Skyrim is a fantasy action RPG developed by Bethesda Game Studios. It is the fifth game from the main line of the Elder Scrolls series, and the eleventh in total. It is set in the northern country of Skyrim on the continent of Tamriel. Skyrim is home to the Viking-inspired Nords, and at the time of the game it is embroiled in a civil war between the Imperials and the Stormcloaks in the 201st year of the 4th Era.
The game succeeds The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (2006), and precedes The Elder Scrolls Online (2014 PC, 2015 Consoles).
