The good thing about 2fort is that there are so many options for engineers, placing your sentry on the intelligence is... not a great idea. You're not covering any ground of the map, you're giving up ammo and health to the enemy and you're just begging for a C&D stab and sap. Just consider the other building opportunities this map offers: 1. By the ...

On offense as Engineer without Gunslinger, the main goal is to set up a forward base. First, your team is stuck in spawn pre-round. If there's buildable area between spawn and setup gates, make sure you get your stuff built. Put down the Dispenser and Teleporter first, and you should have time to finish a level 3 Sentry before the gates open. That should at ...

I haven't tried it myself, mind -- but I've seen more than one engineer start building a dispenser, hopping on top of it while it's still propping itself up, then using the extra boost to deposit a teleporter exit on a ledge they couldn't otherwise get to. Maybe that's what's happening?

No, cloaked spies will not be tethered by dispensers. It's the same mechanic as to whether medics can attach medigun beams to cloaked spies. They can't, and I know flickering from being bumped doesn't change it. Most special effects are hidden while cloaked, with notable exceptions being milk/jarate/blood/water drips and fire.

The Wrangler has a few advantages as well Manually controlling the sentry increases its bullet fire rate. I want to say by double, but I'm not positive about that. The blue/red bubble is actually a shield that absorbs 66% of the damage done to it. For an example of what this means, instead of taking 3 stickybombs to kill a level 3 sentry, it takes 8 to ...

No it does not. The Widowmaker only awards metal for damage that it does. The server that you were playing on must have been running a special plugin. Source

From http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Teleporters: Players who have recently teleported are surrounded by a distinctive, glowing particle effect for eighteen seconds after teleporting.

Whoever is closest to the Sentry Gun within its range will be targeted by it. If the target moves away such that another target becomes the closest, the Sentry Gun will switch to that next closest target. This is why during an ÜberCharge, it's recommended that a Medic stand between his patient and the sentry to tank its gunfire, so that his patient can ...

The strange PDA tracks sentry kills, health dispensed (for dispensers), and allies teleported (for teleporters). However, only the sentry kills go toward the strange rank (the name changes). I believe that allies teleported pertains only toward allies and not enemy spies, as illustrated by other uses of the word "ally" in other in item descriptions. The name ...

The Gunslinger has the following stats: +25 max HP No random critical hits Sentries Guns are replaced by Mini-Sentries I'll explain each point in order. The Gunslinger does not regenerate HP; rather, it seems more likely that they just meant that it gives the Engineer a larger total health pool. In order to compensate for the additional HP, the ...

Dispensers will only recharge a weapon faster if that weapon uses "regular" ammo - that is, if the weapon recharges by picking up ammo packs, dropped weapons, or building pieces. The Invis Watch and Dead Ringer use regular ammo; a level 3 Dispenser will actually fill your cloak faster than it depletes. The rest of the items on your list do not use regular ...

Engineers can climb to great heights by using the Wrangler. You sit on top of your turret, jump, and have the turret fire at your feet, propelling you to previously unreachable heights. This is how Engineer nests get set up on the small walkway across from the roof that sits over the second checkpoint, on Badwater (Payload). The Engineer will take damage ...

As fbueckert states in the comments this will change from situation to situation. I will not go over every situation here, but I will offer you the following advice. The medic combo has 9 times out of 10 ubered in order to take out your sentry gun. If you pick up the sentry gun you are going to become the main target and you will probably lose everything. ...

No it will not. A rescue ranger shot will repair the building slightly but will not remove the sapper. Only an engineer's wrench or a pyro's homewrecker or neon annihilator can remove sappers. Source: TF2 Wiki - Rescue Ranger

I've done this plenty of times, at least at one of the circles you indicated. In the first pic, on the left side, I just jump up on the barrels There are barrels situated beside the little roof indent, jump on to those. Then, across on the opposite wall are some crates, jump across to those. Finally get your TP exit ready, and jump back at the little roof, ...

I can't think of a single situation where you wouldn't want to protect your level 3 sentry. Yes, you and your nest might be doomed, but every second of invincibility spent on your nest is a second of invincibility not spent on the rest of your team. Even on offence, where your teleporter is more important than your sentry, you want to tank the sentry that's ...

From my experience in the Engineer Class I always like to first(even without gunslinger): Choose your inventory right before round start. I dont use gunslinger a lot so I always use the jag as an offensive engineer, because you build faster that other wrenches. Choose a good prime weapon and always be around a pyro (for obvious reasons) Check if there's a ...

The current version of TF2 does not have this interface. You likely modified your own installation somehow. Pictures made a few minutes ago: Edit: After OP mentioning Gamepad controls, I googled a bit. According to this resource you can enable them only via the console by executing exec 360controller. Trying this one does indeed get the HUD as shown by OP. ...

I don't know of a way to do this. However, I have an alternate control scheme which you might find worth trying. I don't find single-stepping a scroll wheel a reliable input method, so I have rebound my wheel to function simply as switching buttons: bind "MWHEELUP" "slot3" bind "MWHEELDOWN" "slot1" bind "MOUSE4" "slot2" bind "MOUSE5" "slot4" I've also ...

By aiming the crosshair at one of your own buildings, and right-clicking, The Rescue Ranger will have you pick up the building (from any distance). The drawbacks to this effect are: It will cost 130 metal You will be marked for death while carrying any building The Rescue Ranger's shots are similar to the Crusader's Crossbow's bolts, both in the way they ...

To clarify, because it hasn't been given as an answer yet, the 'gunslinger' itself, the weapon that you use that allows you to build Mini-Sentries, does not have an HP-regen ability. It grants you additional HP, guarantees a crit on a third consecutive hit, and does not random crit, but the item itself has no further special properties. Formerly, the ...

The bolts it fires are similiar to crusaders crossbow, but of a different model and trail, that is all. To teleport a building you must have a line of sight to it and simply aim the building you want to teleport.

3

I'm kind of partial to the hayroom spawn area, simply because it's higher traffic and there's more of a likelyhood that if I'm in trouble there will be other players nearby (or respawning shortly) to support me. You can stick your dispenser in the doorway that leads from the grate room/hay room area down to the intel, which blocks enemy players (including ...

The Strange wrench tracks both Kills with wrench and Sentry Kills. But, the item itself is only effected by Kills with the weapon, and the Sentry Kills are just tracked underneath it, much like Stange mediguns (not Kritzkreig) with their UberCharge being the main counter, and assists being the secondary counter. Moving on, you would need the strange part: ...

To quote directly off the wiki: ...the player is able to perform a three-part combo attack on enemies. Should an enemy be hit three times in succession, the third strike (a downward motion with a clenched fist) will become an automatic critical hit. This does not need to be performed on a single enemy, but the attack key cannot be released during the ...

The main advantage of the Wrangler (other than the enjoyment of controlling your sentry) is that it gives the sentry infinite range. An example: Imagine you have your sentry set up at the back of cp_gorge on the platform overlooking the final control point. From this position you can see the area between the two catwalks through the large metal door. ...

2

The Wranger has a lot of good going for it: You can choose your targets. Instead of having the sentry waste ammo into an über or a Bonk Scout, have it fire at someone else. You get a shield that blocks two-thirds of damage while aiming it. Have an über Heavy incoming? Turn on the Wrangler between wrench swings to keep its shield up while repairing it. You ...

One idea is to do something like this: bind mouse4 "build 2 0; wait 132; say_team Sentry up!" This will make it so when you press MOUSE4 (forward on most mice), you'll pull up the diagram for a sentry, wait 132 ticks (2 seconds on most servers), then tell your team "Sentry up!". Note that you would still manually have to place the sentry with MOUSE1, and ...

The biggest advantage is that a wrangled sentry has a shield which deflects about two thirds of damage dealt to it. This can be used to keep your sentry alive if it is under attack, for example if the enemy deploy an ubercharge. The wrangler can also be used at any range or on any target- good against disguised spies or faraway enemies. Finally, the ...
