Here's a quick situational guide to playing the Sniper in TF2. Adapt the tips to fit your own play-style. Unless stated otherwise, I'll be using 2Fort for my examples of placement within this guide. Note: This was written back in 2013. Some details may not be accurate anymore. General Advice Don't drink obsessive amounts of coffee whilst playing sniper. ...

The default sniper rifle deals 50 damage un-charged, and 150 damage when fully charged. It takes 1.5 seconds to reload the sniper rifle after the first shot, and a further 3.3 seconds to fully charge it. A level 3 sentry has 216 hit points. The quickest way to destroy a level 3 sentry is one fully charged shot, followed by a one-sixth charged shot. It takes ...

After doing some testing, I would guess that it's around 200 units. Jarate and Mad Milk seem to be the same, and neither distance nor height thrown from seem to matter. I think it's a sphere that results from it, but I can't be sure. It does require line of sight though. I'm not sure how to get unit counts. I took screenshots though if anyone wants to check ...

It's a viable sidegrade. It makes sniping more reliable (no need to headshot) and gives you a more supportive role. The jarate effect is especially useful by making enemies retreat and scaring them away. Extra charge speed is there for help the sniper do some basic picking, 150 bodyshot can easily take out medics and scouts. You can extinguish teammates ...

The piss is red/brown, which means the sniper is either pissing blood or he has stool in his urine, which both means he's quite sick/dying, hence the consoling.

No. Once the meter is full, the sniper rifle will deal maximum damage (normally 150 for bodyshots, 450 for headshots). Charging longer than this won't increase the damage any further. You probably dealt 500 damage because of the Machina's +15% damage on fully charged shots. This would give you 518 damage (though 450 also kills a fully overhealed heavy).

If you're a sniper, and you're set on fire by a Pyro, you're going to get destroyed instantly. That said, you need a weapon with huge burst DPS. And since the Sniper goes down easily whether or not he has the Bushwacka out, it's going to have to be that. Since the Pyro is the king of CQC, alongside the Heavy, you'll want to do a quick Jarate, then ...

This has been a topic that cropped up a lot in the past its very hard to discribe best to show: here is the jist of the way it works: projectile and hit-scan hitboxes are boxes around your character. if a shot hits it, it's a hit. Same with headshots from arrows. It's just the hitbox for huntsman headshots is quite ...

Shoot people in the face? There is no one secret - there's dozens of small tactics and strategies to playing the sniper compared to other classes. It's not just a high-powered rifle with a questionably-appropriate scope, it's a class devoted to applying high-risk-high-reward damage from far away. And killing their medic. So here are a few general pieces ...

Bazaar Bargain is one of those items that just depend on your playstyle and skill. If you keep running around getting one-two headshots and then die it is pretty much useless to you,but if you keep getting in good positions with nice headshots and killstreaks you will have a nice bonus without even noticing the disadvantage. The -40% starting charge rate ...

Without scripts, no. However there are several scripts that can help you out, depending on what you're looking for. The TF2 wiki has a page of sniper scripts, this one may be useful (It's a quickscope script however, not a 'hold to zoom'): bind mouse3 "+qz;" alias +qz "+attack2; wait 33; -attack2; +attack; wait 3; -attack;" And This Steam Forum had this ...

You need to pull back for 1 second to get a Full Length arrow off. If you pull back for more than 5 seconds, your hand starts to wobble and you will lose accuracy (I'm guessing this is what you are experiencing when you say that sometimes it doesn't go in a straight line) So in order to get a good shot off, you need to charge it for 1 second (which is what ...

The bottle is the snipers jarate throwing weapon, which contains his urine. Since it's red, he might have a severe illness.

Most likely, as a Sniper, you are far away from the front line... so not many people would come barging their way towards you. However, in the case that they do, you have a few choices: Retreat. Backpeddle away as quickly as possible while dealing as much damage if you have any secondary damage dealing weapons like the SMG or the Cleaner's Carvine. Lead ...

There appears to be a bug by which you only obtain this achievement when you obtain the "Be Polite" achievement: once you've provided a freeze cam of each your melee taunt and your primary taunt you get both. Odd.

Note: I don't play a lot of MvM Sniper because I suck at Sniper... I mainly play Medic in MvM. In MvM, your target order is really going to be the same regardless of class. Giant Scouts AKA those annoying bastards who run past everyone carrying the bomb. Medics / Giant Medics (although let the Demo try to explode giant Medics first). Engineers (on maps ...

No, it doesn't. Ubered players are not affected by status effects. Note that this only works with the stock Ubercharge. In fact, flashing someone with a stock Medigun's Ubercharge will clear all status effects currently on them. Just be aware that the amount of time on the Uber goes down every time you change targets, to a minimum of 2.666 seconds (from ...

The truth of the matter is that there's only one real way to counter this situation - avoid it entirley. At medium-range, you can try to huntsman a pyro, you can try to get a shot off or jarate/bushwhacka him, you can even try your SMG if you're desperate, but the only surefire way to avoid getting cornered by a Pyro like this is to plan ahead, and keep ...

There are countless tutorials on YouTube covering this subject, but the only one that really stuck out to me was nst's tutorial. Prediction - Shoot an enemy when they are unlikely to change direction. This will allow you line up for a headshot. - Enemies' movements are somewhat easier to predict if they jump. Shoot where ...

Playing Sniper in Mann Vs. Machine A lot of people believe Sniper in MvM is not viable to replace a demoman or another high DPS crowd controlling class. A good sniper in MvM can easily outshine these other classes. As a Sniper you are a jack-of-all-trades. Supporting your team through mini-crits, slowing the enemies, taking out groups of enemies and ...

The bow is also great on Medieval Attack / Defend maps like DeGroot Keep, being one of the few non-melee weapons available to any class in this mode.

Alternatively, you can buy/unlock the Huntsman and become an offensive Sniper. If so, try to remain up close near the fighting. Don't be afraid to use the sub machine gun, but it does very little damage. Jarate is also great if you are going to be near the action. Try to get teammates to shield you from bullets as you snipe. The tribalman's shiv is also ...

I'm pretty unstoppable at Sniper with the huntsman and jarate, the one thing that bothers me a lot is a Soldier at close range. Close range rockets can almost always mean a quick death. The best tactic is to run, dodge and put some distance between you, unless your jarate chop is ready and the soldier is unaware. Also Scouts can be deadly if the scout ...

The two things you have mentioned (variable arrow arc, bar shown as you pull string) are connected. The bar you see is the charge bar, same as with any sniper rifle. Pulling back the string by holding down primary-fire is your charge method, as opposed to rifles where you click once to zoom in. At no charge, arrows arc significantly and move rather slowly. ...

Personally I never see a real reason to use the sleeper as a sniper, the points that Riker suggested are all well and good but a lot of them can be countered for the most part by using stock or though game sense. For example, if I see that a medic has an uber then I would much rather kill him as quickly as possible with a headshot/scare him into an early ...

On this page, you can read about the sniper Machina, which is a sniper that deals 15% extra damage when fully charged. "A fully charged shot fired by the Machina delivers an extra 15% damage, can pierce through multiple enemies, and has a distinct firing sound." This is the only sniper that gets bonus damage for being fully charged.

As a sniper main, I have some advice: always unscope every once in a while. This has saved my butt countless times. Listen out for decloaking/footsteps. If it's a spy, melee him or if you're good enough to quickscope him, go for the kill. If it's someone like a pyro, most of the time it's an easy kill if you can quickscope him ( too easy for me) or of not, ...

An effective counter to a good sniper is the Croc-o-Style Kit. It prevents being killed by headshots, which gives you ample time to kill the enemy sniper even after they headshot you. The downside to this set is that you cannot deal headshots, however your rifle coats enemies in jarate (in addition to the 150+ damage dealt). If your target is in battle, ...

I would say do a quick scope uncharged headshot if the scout is going to get close to you, I would go for that than regular body shot.
