The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (also known simply as Skyrim) is a fantasy action RPG developed by Bethesda Game Studios. It is the fifth game from the main line of the Elder Scrolls series, and the eleventh in total. It is set in the northern country of Skyrim on the continent of Tamriel. Skyrim is home to the Viking-inspired Nords, and at the time of the game is embroiled in a civil war consisting of the Imperials and the Stormcloaks in the 201st year of the 4th Era.
The game succeeds The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (2006), and precedes The Elder Scrolls Online (2014 PC, 2015 Consoles).
In 2016, the Special Edition of the game was released, a remastered version that includes all official DLCs, and features an enhanced engine as well as the Creation Club, which offers official mods that you can buy for credits.
If you use this tag, you don't also need to use the-elder-scrolls, which is about the series rather than any particular game. If asking about content in the Dawnguard, Hearthfire, or Dragonborn DLCs, then use this tag in conjunction with the related DLC tags: skyrim-dawnguard, skyrim-hearthfire, or skyrim-dragonborn.
