I 've been doing full stack web development for over a decade now. During my early years, more of the work I did focused on implementing designs in HTML and CSS with a little bit of templating and database logic. Later I started getting more in depth with the backend. I've done everything from setting up a web server from scratch, design database schemas and write stored procedures, build server side templates to produce HTML pages, build site styles in CSS, make pages dynamic and interactive using various JavaScript (ECMAScript) libraries, write tests against my code and my peers' code, and automate building and deployment of code using various scripting languages.

My passion is solving problems cleanly and effectively. One of the problems I see over and over again is having manual, tedious, and time consuming processes which impede getting real work done. I like working in both the front and back end, but I tend to find that backend problems have cleaner solutions and are usually more satisfying to solve.

Recently, I've been building microservices to help decompose a monolith app and get it ready for cloud ready. I believe strongly in The Twelve-Factor App methodology. My ideal role would to be part of a team which is open to implementing the 12 factor methodology or is already practicing it.

I am open to working with almost any technology. In my work and personal projects, I've used:

  • HTML / HTML5
  • CSS / CSS3 / LESS / SASS
  • Vanilla JavaScript, ES6
  • jQuery
  • Angular.js (1.x)
  • Twitter Bootstrap
  • PHP 5.x / CakePHP / WordPress
  • ColdFusion / CFWheels
  • Java / JSP
  • Node.js, Gulp.js, Express, Jade
  • mySQL, MSSQL, Oracle
  • mongodb
  • git / GitHub / Bitbucket / SVN
  • bash / vim
