The last point is particularly important, IMO. While most USB storage devices come formatted in FAT32, some users will have reformatted them (for instance, to store very large files). Windows users would likely have formatted their device with NTFS, and Mac users with HFS+. In either of those cases, you'd need to clear out the device and reformat it with exFAT before using it to transfer files to the PS4.
So, for an actual new player, would it be possible to (for example) take a copy of GTAV for PS3 (used, borrowed, whatever), start a new game, quit the game as early as possible, then start the game up on PS4 (with the same PSN account and RSC account)? Would that get the unlock, or is some amount of actual play time required?
Great answer, I appreciate the inclusion of publishers who use torrents for legitimate distribution. I'd also note that the Humble Bundle store offers torrents as an option for downloading DRM-free games that one has purchased.
@awidgery I assume you've already tried pressing the PS key on the remote, just under the directional keys and above select/start? It seems painfully obvious, but you haven't mentioned trying that yet, per Probst's analogy with the PS2 remote.
