If you have multiple garages you can also fast travel between garages which makes game time progress. Using ferries also speeds that game along the amount of time of the ferry.
@Wrigglenite Have you seen the nests respawn too? Your answer conflicts with this answer to another question and my own personal experience - I've never noticed a den respawn, although plenty of area-based creatures respawn (is this time based perhaps? Maybe I just never go back near cleared dens?). I'll recheck this when I get home - travel back to white orchard on my current playthrough and see if the dens/nests there have respawned.
This is not a purely cosmetic setting! It is also not just a performance setting! Altering it does effect the performance of your machine in battles with maxed/multiple army battles, but it does also effect unit cohesion as @Dulkan mentioned. It applies to a save game and that is why the OP is seeing different results for different save games (with the same faction) - they must have set a larger unit size in the current game they are playing, and a smaller size in the previous one.
What browser are you using? They all behave slightly differently, but should always allow you to choose between Run/Open (when downloaded) and a pure Save/Save as option. Using the latter should allow you to download the whole file unmolested (Open/Run will try to open it with an associated program, that you might not have). However, as it's a .7z it's possible that you don't have an appropriate unzip program available (such as 7zip - other products are available)
Might be worth mentioning that you should not click on the 'Yes' or 'No' as they will try to do other stuff. Just getting to this point should be enough to trigger any additional download when you have steam running.
