I checked the Superliminal user scores on Metacritic:

  • Xbox One: 9.6, 1834 ratings
  • Switch: 9.5, 1308 ratings
  • PC: 7.7, 209 ratings
  • PS4: 6.8, 52 ratings

I feel that the gap between these scores is large. If the game is the same on all consoles, then I would not expect a 2-point gap. For the PC, the average should already balance out at 209 ratings. Also, there is a direct correlation between the number of ratings and the score.

Maybe the reason is that Superliminal does function differently on different consoles. Therefore, I would like to know what differences there are in gameplay and the quality of the game on the different consoles.

Based on gameplay footage from YouTube, gameplay and content for Superliminal appears to be near identical between all versions. There were Developer and Challenge Modes added n a free update, but they appear to have been made available on all consoles. The only platform-specific differences I could find are as follows:

  • On Nintendo Switch it runs at 30 FPS. The free Xbox Series X/S and PS5 updates run at 60 FPS. The framerate on PC is uncapped. The Android port can target 60 or 30 FPS based on what you set in the options. I do not know the framerate on PS4 or Xbox One.
  • The recently released mobile port for iOS and Android is free to download with a trial of the game's first level before you need to purchase the full game. It also has touch controls.
  • The PC/Steam version has mod support through the Steam Workshop.
  • On PC, the game was initially exclusive to the Epic Games Store for around a year.
