In The Old Republic ship-based minigame, is there a way to destroy shielded targets?

I'm playing the space battles and I can't seem to disable the shield generators. When I shoot at them, I assume it's them as they are yellow outlined reticules, they flash blue.

I'm guessing you need a technique in order to take them out, but I'm not sure what to try.
